Chili Sauce
Ingredients
- 100g red hot chilies (cut into pieces)
- 2 garlic cloves
- 250ml cup water (1 cup)
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt (to taste)
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch/corn flour
- 1 tablespoon water
Method
- Pulse the Ingredients – Add chilies, garlic, and water to a food processor. Pulse several times until finely chopped.
- Simmer the Sauce – Transfer the chilli mixture to a saucepan. Add vinegar, sugar, and salt. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Prepare the Thickener – In a small bowl, mix cornflour/cornstarch with water until smooth.
- Thicken the Sauce – Gradually add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan. Simmer gently over low heat for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Cool and Store – Remove from heat and allow the sauce to cool. Transfer to a glass jar and refrigerate. The sauce can be stored for up to 3 weeks.
